History of CBC
In November of 1973 a small group of people who wanted a Southern Baptist congregation in Hot Springs Village met with Rev. Hugh Owen, the Director of Missions for the Central Baptist Association. In January of 1975 they became a mission of Central Baptist church and later of Second Baptist Church, both in Hot Springs. Barcelona Road Baptist Mission was dedicated in November of 1975. The mission organized into Barcelona Road Baptist Church in 1981.
Hot Springs Village continued to grow to the east. In 1991 twenty members of Barcelona Road Baptist Church formed the Balboa Baptist Mission. In 1992 the mission organized into Balboa Baptist Church with Dr. Kenny Moore as pastor.
Growth continued at Balboa, and the decision was made to start another church in the central part of the Village. Cooper Communities donated thirteen acres of land at the corner of Coronado Drive and Minorca Road.
In November of 2005 eighty-one members of Balboa Baptist Church held the first service of Coronado Baptist Church as a mission of Balboa. Meetings are temporarily held in the Coronado Center. The mission organized into a church in April of 2006. Rev. Johnny Ross served as interim pastor until Rev. Gene Washburne became pastor in January of 2007.
The church has engaged Sowell & Russell of Conway, Arkansas, as architects and is moving forward with building plans.
Current membership of the church is 134.
